Gae Lucille VanHooser is the daughter of Shephard Henry and Harriet Lorraine Cook VanHooser. Gae Lucille married Ralph Engle Layman on Dec 7, 1914 in Lemars Plymouth, IA. Gae Lucille and Ralph had two sons, Elwood Price Layman and Ralph Engle Layman, Jr.

Graveside rites at the Newell cemetery were conducted at 1:30 pm Tuesday, Jan 14 for Mrs. Gae Layman, 75, of Colorado Springs, CO, and a former resident of the area. Father Donald R. Smith of Fonda was in charge of services. Burial was under the direction of the Kellen-Mahancy funeral home.

Mrs Layman was born in Fonda, July 31, 1888. She lived in Newell until 1919 after which she resided in several area towns. A few years ago she moved to Colorado Springs where she passed away Saturday, Jan 11.

She is survived by a son, Ralph, of Colorado Springs, five grandchildren and a nephew, Dean R Layman of Newell.

Her husband, Ralph Layman, and a son, Bruce, preceded her in death.
