Jesse F. Harrell TYNER - Jesse Frank Harrell, 87, formerly of Cannon's Ferry Road, died March 24, 2008, in Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mr. Harrell was born in Chowan County and was the son of the late Augustus Moore and Bessie White Harrell. A retired carpenter and farmer, and an Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, RA Leader, Sunday school teacher, trustee, and choir member. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Bass Harrell. Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Julia and Jerry Singletary of Raleigh, Karen and Dennis Utt of Sunbury, and Merinda and Mike Wetherington of Fayetteville, Tenn.; a half-sister, Mildred Perry of Woodville; a half- brother, Ray Harrell of Elizabeth City; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church by the Revs. Ron Parr and Gene Asbill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, and all other times at the home of Karen and Dennis Utt, 346 Acorn Hill Road, Sunbury.
