Mary Kattie Pitcock, 99, died at the Pecos Valley Care Center in Ft. Sumner Tuesday evening, December 5, 1989, following a lengthy illness. She was born December 16, 1890 in Ranger, Texas, to the home of C.C. (Ted) and Caroline Hamilton. She was reared in Ranger and on April 4, 1909, in Ranger, she was married to Grover Cleve Pitcock. The family moved to Plainview, Texas, in 1923,
and lived there until 1930, at that time they moved to a farm in the Floyd Community. They lived there for 31 years, and in 1961 they moved to Portales. Since 1974, she had lived in nursing homes and for the past ten years she had been in Ft. Sumner at the Pecos Valley Care Center. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, W.T. Pitcock of Portales;
Jimmie Pitcock of Muleshoe, Texas; a daughter, Peggy Morgan of Portales; seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. She is
also survived by one brother, Charlie C. Hamilton of Ranger, Texas; two sisters, Dora Williams of Graham, Texas, and Willie Mae Williams of Ft. Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by two sons, C.G. Pitcock and Bobbie Ted Pitcock; by three brothers, Henry, John D. and Robert Hamilton and other near relatives. Graveside services will be conducted at the Floyd Cemetery Friday, December 8, 1889 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Frank Crenshaw officiating. She is being laid to rest at the side of her husband who died in 1963. She will lie in state at the Wheeler Mortuary until Thursday evening. If so desired, memorials may be
made to the Floyd Cemetery Association in care of Georgene Nixon of Floyd, New Mexico, in lieu of flowers. The family will gather at 163 Yucca Drive.
