Daniel Frederick Hale, 92, of Clarks Mountain Road, Rapidan, Virginia, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at his residence. He was born on May 8, 1920, in Radiant, Virginia, the son of the late Hames Frederick Hale and Nonie Haney Hale. He was also predeceased by his wife, Ethel Evelyn Lohr Hale; and one brother, Earl Hale. Mr. Hale was a member of the Lower Rapidan Baptist Church in Rapidan, Virginia, a retired farmer, and a United States Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Hale is survived by a daughter, Debi Topp and husband, Gene, of Anchorage, Alaska; three sons, Danny Hale and wife, Kathy, of Front Royal, Charles Hale and wife, Kathy, of Alexandria, and Paul Hale and wife, Kathy, of Rapidan; nine grandchildren, Daniel Micah Hale, Carrie H. Underwood, Fredrica Blair Senger, Kimberly Hale, Margo H. Lee, Danielle Hale, P. K. Hale, Cheyenne Hale, and Wendy Shifflett; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Goodson of Troy; and three brothers, Norman Hale of Boulder, Colorado, Harold Hale of Lecanto, Florida, and William "Billy" Hale of Lynchburg. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Culpeper National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lower Rapidan Baptist Church, P.O. Box 103, Rapidan, VA 22733. Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is in charge of arrangements.
