Martha Enid Burkey, born July 18, 1920 in Henry County, Iowa, has gone to join our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
Enid received her associate degree from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa and worked briefly as a bookkeeper and as an elementary teacher but she devoted most of her last years serving our Lord through First Baptist Church in Fairfield and with the California Baptist Foundation.
Enid was a loving, supporting wife and companion. She is survived by her three children, Jean, Paul Sr., and Dana; and eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandkids.
She was preceded by her beloved husband of 63 years, William Andrew Burkey, who joined our Lord in July 2004; and one grandchild in 2002.
She will be missed but the family takes great comfort that she has passed peacefully in her sleep and is once again with her loving husband and our savior Jesus Christ.
Graveside service to be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery, 1707 Union Ave., Fairfield. The family will be hosting a memorial service 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, 1108 Washington St., Fairfield.
