John was in the Civil War, Co.B 83rd PA. Inf. Volunteer.In June of 1864 at Petersburg VA. he received a Gun Shot wd. to the right knee. Sept. of 1869 John married Sarah Jane Reynolds. Together they had 13 children. Stayed together till death of John.
