James Nickels, 82, of Troy,Ohio passed away at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Koester Pavilion, Troy. He was born on March 11, 1926 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky to the late Jim and Bertha Nickels. James was preceded in death by his wife, Iva.
James is survived by his 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Oney and Dottie Nickels of Troy, Dewey and Mary Nickels of Oklahoma, and Roy and Luella Nickels of Fairbanks, Alaska; his sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Lowell Cahill of Kent. He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, James was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Raymond and Robert; his 2 sisters, Irene and Glenna.
James retired from the State Highway Department.
There will be a funeral service held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 23, 2008 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Sam Berger officiating. A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday 1 hour prior to service (10-11 A.M.). Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
