24125 Pte, Royal Warkwickshire Regiment 1st Bn. Wounded on 15-May-1918, he died on 5th Sepember 1918, of gas poisoning, in the East Suffolk Hospital, Ipswich. Buried Coates churchyard, 9th Sepember 1918.

He was the son of Mr J Wheatley, of Coates, was married and worked in Coventry.

His brother, Lance Corporal Thomas Arthur Wheatley also fell.
