Constance Sue Hansen, of Pocatello, Idaho, left to be with her Heavenly Father on April 9, 2013 at Quail Ridge Assisted Living facility. She was surrounded by her husband and loving family.
Connie Camp was born on February 25, 1934, in Brookland, Arkansas to Andrew Louis and Mary Sue Camp.
She is survived by her husband, former Congressman George Vernon Hansen, of Pocatello; son, Steven George (Kim), of Vero Beach, FL, son, James Vernon (Patricia) of Spotsylvania, VA, daughter, Patricia Sue (Rielly) Conrad, of Falls Church, VA, son, William Dean (Kassandra), of McLean, VA, and daughter, Joanne of Annandale, VA.
Connie is also survived by ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren with two more expected this month. One grandchild preceded her in death.
Connie and George were married in Malden, Missouri on Dec. 19, 1952. A few years later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
The couple eventually settled in their beloved Pocatello where they spent the majority of their 60 years of marriage. George was elected to the United States Congress in 1964 and the family relocated to northern Virginia before returning home to Pocatello in 1971. George was once again elected to Congress in 1974 and he and Connie and the family moved back to northern Virginia. They eventually returned to Pocatello for good in the mid 1990's.
Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always provided a warm, secure and loving home for her family. She was a fantastic cook and homemaker. As a young mother she was crowned Mrs. Pocatello and 1st runner-up as Mrs. Idaho.
Away from the home, she had an impressive career as a public servant in numerous capacities at both the local and federal levels of government. She was elected to the Pocatello City Council and served as President of the Pocatello American Legion Auxiliary.
She worked on Capitol Hill for several members of Congress and for President Reagan as a senior executive at HUD. She was active in political campaigns during the past several decades and received many honors for her work, including serving as a Presidential elector in 2001 for President George W. Bush.
She was a businesswoman and spent countless hours volunteering her time in helping others in various church and civic positions. She owned and managed the Pocatello Copycat printing business.
Connie conveyed to her children the gift and legacy of a kind and gentle heart and spirit. She did this by her example through service to others, compassion, courtesy and politeness, thoughtfulness and generosity, wit and humor, honesty and honor and integrity, fun and delight, achievement, humility, and most of all, loving kindness and tenderness.
She served as Stake Relief Society President in the Pocatello Alameda Stake and as an advisor to the young women at the ISU LDS Institute of Religion. She also served as PTA president. She was always the glue that kept her family together during some very difficult times. During these years of adversity, she was always there for her husband and all of her family.
The Hansen family would like to express their deepest thanks to the wonderful staff at Quail Ridge for their love and attention to Connie over the last two years. The family would also like to thank Encompass Hospice for their compassion and loving care.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 12 at Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Avenue, and one hour prior to services on Saturday morning. Interment will follow at the Cache Clawson Cemetery in Tetonia, Idaho.
