Jane was the daughter of Harry E. and Ethel (Earl) Dawson. She married Floyd W. (Bill) Swank on Dec. 25, 1937. They made their home in Smartsburg for 57 years. Bill died Sept. 3, 1994. She had a variety of interests which she pursued with enthusiasm. Her great interest was in genealogy and history. Jane was a long-time active member of Dorothy Q Chapter of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She had been serving this past year as corresponding secretary and secretary of Elston Memorial Foundation Board. She also spent many hours helping to record information from all of Montgomery County cemetery markers. Mary Jane was survived by a son and a daughter; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews. She was preceded by nine brothers and sisters. She was an active member of Smartsburg Christian Church and atteded since she was four years old. She inspired all by her grace and strength. (See Journal Review)
