Funeral services for Marie Katherine Hull Harris, 89, of Vandalia, will be held at 11 a.m., November 21, 2011 at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, Vandalia, with Reverend Glenn Forman and Reverend Mike Barter officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Chaffee, Mo. Visitation will be Sunday, November 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Vandalia. Arrangements are under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Home, Laddonia.
Mrs. Harris passed away at 4:33 p.m. November 18, 2011 at Audrain Medical Center, Mexico. She was born May 29, 1922 in Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas L. and Nannie Katherine Clark Hull. She was married to Robert Iowa Harris on January 24, 1941 in Bowling Green, Mo and he preceded her in death July 30, 1970. She is survived by two sons, Dean (Teri) Harris of El Cajon, CA., and Rusty Harris of Monroe City; three daughters, Judy (Topper) Slinkard and Sue (Bob) Giltner, all of Vandalia, and Doris (Hershel) Bradford of Mexico; one daughter-in-law, Virginia Harris of Chaffee; two brothers, Ray Hull of Farber, and Gene Hull of Kingman, AZ; three sisters, Emma Burts, and Mildred Hulse, both of Farber, and Dickie Selby of Vandalia; seventeen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Bob Harris; one daughter-in-law, Lisa Harris; three brothers, Almer Hull, Roswell (Sorg) Hull and Billy Hull; two sisters, Beaulah Shepherd and Marjorie McCoy; one granddaughter, Robyn Hailey; and one great grandson, Dylan Admire. Mrs. Harris grew up in the Farber area and worked as a seamstress at Bobbie Brooks for five years before moving to Chaffee, Mo. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church there. She was employed as a cook for 8 years at Cape Girardeau Osteopathic Hospital before moving back to Vandalia in 1972. After moving back, she worked in several area factories as a seamstress. She was currently a member of Vandalia First Baptist Church. She loved to work puzzles, watch Cardinal baseball, her grandchildren's softball games, Mizzou basketball games and enjoyed playing games and family get togethers. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 329 Yoakum, Chaffee, Mo. 63740, a church that was very special to her.
