---Mr. George T. Bennett was born near Albion, Calhoun county, Mich., Feb. 23, 1839 and died in Marengo, Feb. 21, 1899.
---Deceased was married Nov. 18, 1858 to Miss Elizabeth Cushman, who died Oct. 27, 1877, leaving five children to his care, all of whom survive him. The father was unable to keep the family together for more than a year and since then they have been more or less separated. In 1865 he enlisted in the 9th regiment Michigan infantry. After serving one year he returned to Marshall and settled in Marengo township. In Dec. 1883, he was wedded to Mrs. Frances Albaugh who still survives him.
---The deceased was widely known and his life has always been characterized by industry, inflexible honesty and a quiet, genial disposition which made a loving husband and a kind and indulgent parent, whose loss will long be felt, not only by his own children but by the bereaved wife and step children and grandchildren. It was not thought that his last illness would prove fatal until within a few hours before his death, when it was found that he was rapidly approaching the end, and his family was summoned to his bedside, all being with him when the end came after an illness of only eight days.
