Herbert Leroy Rose, was born March 29, 1950, to the late Wigfall (New) Rose and Wilhelmenia Washington Rose. He departed his earthly life Thursday, June 9, 2011, after an illness.

Herbert was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. During his early years, he joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a brother, John Nathan Rose (Wilhelmenia); two sisters, Susie L. Bracey and Alice Rose Bracey; a foster brother, Isaiah Leneau (Virginia); two cousins reared in the home as brothers, Thomas Washington (Louise) and Willis Washington; one aunt, Charlotte Bennett; four sisters-in-law, Nancy Rose, Ruthie Rose, Elease Leneau and Mary Washington; a special niece, Stephanie Bracey; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Wigfall Rose Jr., Abraham Rose, Blease Leneau and James Washington; and one sister, Cora Lee Farmer.

Funeral services: New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 3249 Highway 15 South with the Rev. Willie A. Wright Jr., Pastor. The Rev. Daniel Bennett, Eulogist, assisted by the Rev. Nathan Amos, the Rev. Hazel Charles, and the Rev. John Johnson.

Interment: Bradford Cemetery.
