MRS. ERMA E. CRAFT NEWMAN, 84, of Huntington, widow of Charles Bernett Newman, passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, with the Rev. Larry Mullens officiating. Burial will follow. She was born Aug. 10, 1919, in Wayne County, a daughter of the late Melvin and Matilda Elkins Craft. Also preceding her in death were a son, James Ermal Newman; sisters, Velma E. Kelley Billups and Alma Adeline Craft; and brothers, Deral C. Craft, Herman F. Craft, Harold H. Craft and Minnis Otto Craft. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Howard and Connie Jo Newman of Kenova; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Norris and Clara Craft of Kenova and Keith Ray and Lynette Craft of Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren, Tammie R. Hilton and husband Brian, Wendie Newman, Johnathan S. Newman and James "Rusty" Newman and wife, Wendy; and five great-grandchildren, Kayla Owens, Victoria Newman, Amanda Newman, Mariah Bias and Brianna Hilton. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2004, at Chapman's Mortuary.
