Vernon was an active member of the Ohio St. Church of God. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a truck driver.
He is survived by his lifetime companion Donna Fowler of Dunbar; sisters, Dorothy Elkins of Fla. and Betty Bumgardener of Tenn.; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hubbard Hospice House West at Thomas Memorial Hospital for their loving care of Vernon.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Ohio St. Church of God, South Charleston with Pastor Rick Tobia officiating. Burial will follow in Fowler Cemetery, Sissonville.
