Obituary - Bloomfield, N.J., June 19- Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Bennett Van Liew, 73, of 5 Roosevelt Place, Montclair, N.J., a former Brooklyn resident, were held yesterday in Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Van Liew, a descendent of the Van Brunt family, one of the early settlers of Long Island, died on Wednesday. She was active in the Red Cross for many years, and from 1925 to 1950 was superintendent of the Primary Department of Westminster Church.

Surviving are her husband, Alfred Buttler Van Liew, retired vice president of the Martin Dennis Co., of Newark, N.J., chemical manufacturers; a son, Henry R. Van Liew, of St. James, L.I.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Johnstone of Stonington, Conn.; a sister, Mrs. Clifford Dare of Patchogue, L.I.; a brother, William Bennett, of Pitcairn, Pa., and seven grandchildren.
