Little is known of Prince Abdullah Ben-Ayad, but the Ottawa Journal reported his arrival in Canada in 1940 thus. "Tall Prince Abdullah Ben Ayad of Tunis, who lost a leg fighting for France in the Dardanelles in the first Great War, arrived with the Princess Ben Ayad to take up residence on Montreal Island for the duration of the war". In 1943 the British Government sought his help in encouraging people in North Africa to revolt against German occupation. In 1938 at London he had married Lesley Maud Cecil-Wright.
