CSA Congressman, Educator. He was the founder of Washington and Lee Law School, and established the Lexington Law School in 1849. He became Judge of the United States District Court for Western District of Virginia, serving from 1846 to 1860, then served during the Civil War as a member of the Confederate Congress from 1861 to 1865.
