Joel Trimble Edwards, 55, of Abilene, died Saturday April 16, 2005 at his home.
Joel was born April 14, 1950, in Odessa to Bill and Betty Edwards. Joel was a handful till the day he died. Joel attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, where he met his wife, Sophie. He moved to Abilene in 1998 working with AT&T, before working in various Abilene car dealerships. He was a member of Kiwanis, Odessa and Abilene Jaycees, and a former Sunday school teacher at St. John’s in Odessa. Joel was a devoted husband and a dedicated father. His lasting memory will bring a smile to everyone who knew him. He made it a point to brighten everyone’s life around him. Joel will always be remembered for this selfless generosity, his great sense of humor and his overzealous storytelling. His love for his wife and family brought him the most joy in his life. Joel will be greatly missed.
Joel is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sophie of Abilene; his son, Joel of Abilene; his son, Ben of Austin; his daughter, Rachel of Abilene; his son, David of Abilene; his mother, Betty Edwards of Odessa; his sister, Patty Kinnard and her husband, Clay, of Odessa; and his brother, Kirk Edwards and his wife, Lori, of Odessa.
The memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, 602 Meander, in Abilene. After the service, family and friends are invited to the Parish Hall for sharing and fellowship.
The Edwards family respectfully requests that memorial contributions may be made in Joel’s name to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, neurology department, or the Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene.
