Daniel "Slick Rick" McFadden Jr., 55, widower of Jenetta Neal McFadden, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter. Born, June 4, 1952, in the Summerton section of Clarendon County, he was a son of Daniel McFadden Sr. and the late Dorothy Smith McFadden.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.

In his youth, he joined Gum Spring Missionary Baptist Church and in later years attended New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Two sons, Terrance and Derrick McFadden, and a brother, Jessie J. McFadden, preceded him in death.

He was employed at Walker Tire Co. for several years and later as an insurance agent for Primerica Insurance Co. He also worked as a independent construction worker.

Survivors include his father of Summerton; two daughters: Earla (Clayton) Ballard of Baltimore and Amanda Sanders of Sumter; three sisters, Janet (Joseph) Holliday of Summerton, Veronica McFadden Green of Manning and Rose of Summerton; six brothers, Dennis (Helen) McFadden, George, Gregory and Terry, all of Manning, Michael of Summerton and Ricky of Baltimore; three grandchildren; and a special companion, Jenetta Wynn.

Services: Gum Spring Missionary Baptist Church, U.S. 15 S., Silver Community, Pinewood.

The Rev. Corey Thompson will officiate, assisted by the Revs. Ramsey McFadden, James Carter and Willie Wright.

Burial: Gum Spring Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
