Mrs. Marie Baker, 94, of the Methodist Sunset Home, died at 9:25 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 26, 1999) in the home. Born Aug. 30, 1905, in Canton, Mo., Mrs. Baker was a daughter of William and Edith Shuman Henderson. She married Bernard J. Baker Jan. 6 1926, in Quincy. He died Oct. 19, 1978. Mrs. Baker was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was employed in the dietary department of St. Mary Hospital for more than 20 years, retiring in 1973. Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Gengenbacher and her husband, Charles, of Chandler, Ariz.; a son, Joseph H. Baker and his wife, Maurine, of Quincy; three grandchildren, Bernard Baker of Quincy, Michael Gengenbacher and his wife, Paulette, of Chandler and Dena Hughes and her husband Kevin. of Indianapolis; two great-grandchildren, B.J. Baker of Indianapolis and Michelle Gengenbacher of Chandler; and a niece, Betty Ellison of Quincy. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Homer Henderson; and three sisters, Mary Tuley, Lutie Long and Sinia Ellison. Graveside services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery by the Rev. John Kennedy. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home handled arrangements.
