She graduated from Kramer High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She worked at Reece Wooden Shoe Factory (the family business) for a number of years. Dorothy married Donald Slonecker on May 7, 1948 at the Grace Episcopal Church. In 1961 they moved to Lincoln and then returned to Columbus in 1965 and with her husband started Cornhusker Office Supply.
Dorothy was a life long member of Grace Episcopal Church, enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing bridge, and gardening. She especially enjoyed her time with family and friends.
