He was born in Newton, son of the late William and Nellie (Pollard) Deehr on March 13, 1918. On June 7, 1941, he married Dorothy Fischer.
Joe worked for many years at Allen Bradley in Milwaukee and Whitehouse Milk Company in Manitowoc. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish of Alverno, serving as trustee, sacristan and Eucharistic Minister during those 52 years.
Joe is survived by his wife: Dorothy Deehr, Manitowoc; a son: Allan (Linda) Deehr, Hawaii; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Kate, Green Bay, Janice (Dennis) Collier, Madison; Cyndi (Jeff) Koob, California; Karen (Lyle) Burmeister, North Carolina. He has 12 grandchildren: Amy (Dave), Jarrod, Aron, Elizabeth, Nathan (Jenny), Emily, Meggie, Patrick, Jamie (Krista), Bridget (Frank), Angela (Scott) and Lincoln; and six great-grandchildren: Jane, Alex, Kayleigh, Savannah, Taylor and Sam. He is also survived by his sister: Loyola (Mike) Cesarec; a brother: James (Arline) Deehr; a sister-in-law: Lucille Lange, along with nieces, nephews and many cherished and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his son: Joseph Jr.; his daughter-in-law: Karen; his granddaughter: Janelle; his brother and sister-in-law: Francis and Shirley Deehr, and his brothers-in-law: Arthur Lange and Omar Fischer.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Thomas the Apostle Gathering Space, located at Brunner Road and Highway 42, from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2002. The celebration of liturgy will begin at 6 p.m. with the Rev. David Beaudry officiating with sunset graveside services to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Alverno.
