George N. Vollmer 81, of 916 Milan Ave., Amherst, was pronounced dead at Amherst Hospital yesterday at 12:30 p.m. He had been ill the past three years.
Mr. Vollmer, a 45-year Amherst resident, was born in Vermilion. He was a retired employee of the Ohio Edison Co., having worked in the maintenance department.
Surviving are his wife Freda, to whom he was married 45 years; a son, George W., Amherst, two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Barbara) Krueck, South Amherst, and Mrs. Richard (Edna) Berry, Amherst; eight grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, this evening from 7 to 9 and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Robert A. Happel, St. Peter United Church of Christ, will officiate and burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
