Owner Of Locker Plant Dies
George William Vollmer Sr., 52, 960 Milan Ave., suffered a heart attack in his home Monday and was dead on arrival in the emergency room of Amherst Hospital.
Born in Amherst, Aug. 20, 1927, where he was a life-long resident. A 1945 graduate of Amherst High School, he was employed as a general foreman at the Nordson Corp..
The owner and operator of the Amherst Locker Plant on Jackson Street, for 23 years, he was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Ella [nee Vargo]; sons George William Vollmer II, Lorain, Thomas Allan Vollmer, Amherst; daughters, Sharon Ann, Marilyn Jean, Judy Lyn, all of Amherst; sisters, Mrs. Joseph [Barbara] Krueck, South Amherst, Mrs. Richard [Edna] Berry, Amherst.
Services were held in Hempel Funeral Home, where the Rev. Robert A. Happel officiated.
Burial was in Crownhill Cemetery.
