Tried a third time but was refused. The 1860 census lists his wife, Martha, a widow in Owsley Co w/five children- 2 boys & 3 girls. The 1870 & 1880 census still lists her as widow. She applied for a war pension but was refused as Zach was supposedly still alive. He had walked out on her prior to 1860 & was found in Cincinnati, Oh, years later. He had never divorced Martha but had re-married, 1-31-1880 Lucia Ann "Pressdee", had 3 more children - Mary Jane, Emma Clara, & John Newell, & was widowed. He was brought back to Owsley Co to be back together with Martha. She didn't want him back, but their children convinced both, as she had a sixth child out of wedlock, to do so. They lived out their remaining lives together & are buried together.
