Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Dale Gowdy, Glencoe First Baptist Church, will officiate. Services are under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.
Dobson was born June 30, 1936, in Shoals, Ind., to Paul and Jessie (Sypes) Dobson. He spent his childhood in Shoals where he attended school and graduated from high school. He married Dorothy Battles in Las Vegas, Nev., in 1957 and joined the Air Force that same year. For the next six years, while he was in the Air Force, they traveled extensively and lived in many places. In 1975, the Dobsons moved to Stillwater where he took a job with the city. He retired in January 2000 as the customer service foreman for the City of Stillwater.
Dobson was a man who loved to fish and work with wood. He was an accomplished carpenter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Frank Jr. Dobson, Dalphie Dobson and Ralph Dobson; and two sisters, Bernadette George and Mabel Tow.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; five children and their spouses, Randy D. and Roberta Dobson, Stillwater; Ray G. and Cindy Dobson, Stillwater; Wesley A. and Becky King, California; Jay J. and Kathy King, Ripley; and a daughter Debra Metzger and husband Larry, Glencoe; two sisters, Berneice Stephenson, Shoals, Ind.; Mary Tetrick, Bradenton, Fla.; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
