Edna B. Hirte, age 104, of Oshkosh, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Cherry Meadows. She was born June 21, 2008 in Oxford, Iowa to Joseph and Ota Mae Potter Slezak. On June 28, 1944, she married Otto Hirte at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. She remained a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church until her death. Edna worked at Newbergers for 30 years before retiring. Her first job was sewing canteen covers during World War II.

Edna loved to sew, cook, bake and entertain friends and family. She lived independently, walked everywhere, cultivated friends of all ages and enjoyed life until a debilitating stroke on March 21, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1994, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by a sister, Cleo Studt of Iowa City, Iowa, several nieces and nephews and devoted friends.

Funeral services for Edna will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (901 Nebraska Street) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Chadwick Graham officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Park.
