Marianne P. Jackson, 63 of Monroe Road, went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2013. She was the daughter of Donald B. Pugh of Camden, NC, and the late Rose I. Pugh.

She graduated from Camden County High School, Camden, NC in 1968, Chowan College, Murfreesboro, NC in 1970, and Arkansas State University in 1972.

She was a professor of Graphic Arts at Chowan College from 1973 to 1980. She worked for W.T. Riddick & Company in Franklin, VA for 23 years, and Walgreen's for 3 years.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Shiloh, NC during her youth and a current member of the True Word Christian Church in Franklin, VA.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 38 years Johnny Wells Jackson. A son Donald Benjamin "Ben" Jackson and wife Alison of Wilson, NC; a daughter Amanda Kaye Jackson Burr and husband Kenny of Bluffton, SC; and two grandsons Jon and Jake Jackson of Wilson, NC; all whom she dearly loved. She is also survived by a stepmother

Ethel Faye Leary Pugh of Camden, NC; two sisters Rosa-Lee Pugh Riddick and husband Bill of Franklin, VA, and Kathleen Pugh Aydlett and husband Bill of Camden, NC; two step-sisters Tanya Leary Stockton of Raleigh, NC, Wanda Leary and husband Phillip Lee of Elkins, WV; two sister-in-laws Nancy Jackson Tart and husband Donald, Mamie Jackson O'Quinn and husband Ronnie; and one brother-in-law Horace Jackson and wife Mary Sue Jackson of Sanford, NC; 5 nephews; 3 nieces; 5 step-nephews; 2 step-nieces; and 13 great nephews and nieces.

Her church, family, and friends occupied her heart and if you were a stranger, you didn't stay a stranger for long. Her loving spirit will be greatly missed but remembered forever by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Elizabeth City, NC at 1:00 p.m. The family will gather at the home of Donald and Faye Pugh, 199 Dailey Road, in Camden following the service.
