Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Mon 9 Dec 1929: "IMPRESSIVE RITES FOR REV. PATRICK KENNEY--Twenty-six Priests Present at Solemn Mass at St. Joseph's, Midland--Funeral services for the Rev. Patrick J. Kenney, pastor of St. Clements Catholic Church, Landsdowne, Md., who died last Wednesday at St. Agnes' Hospital, Baltimore, were held this morning at 9:30 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland,Md. The Rev. Wm. E. McVeigh, pastor. of St. Peter's Church, Oakland cousin of the deceased, was celebrant of the solemn mass of requiem. Rev. Thomas J. Lennan an army chaplain stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, was deacon and Rev. Francis P. Ryan, of St Mark's Church, Catonsville, was subdeacon. Father Kenney had preached the sermon on the occasion of the first mass of each of these three priests, who were officers of his funeral mass. Rev. Joseph P. Nolan pastor of St. Michael's Church Frostburg, was master of ceremonies. Besides those already mentioned there were twenty-two priests present as. follows: Rt. Rev. Msgr. James Quinn, Rev James A. Dwyer, Rev M J Cuddy of St Patrick's church, this city, Rev. Fr. Simon, O. M. Cap., Rev. Fr Clarence, O. M. Cap. and Rev, Fr Charles, O. M. Cap, of St Peter and Paul Monastery, this city, Rev. J. J. Lawless and Rev. M. J. Dunne, of St. Mary's Church, this city, Rev. P. J. Bradley, of Lonaconing, Rev. Geo. H. Tragesser, of Mt. Savage, Rev. A. Scarpati, of Westernport, Rev. Wm. E. Kelly, of Hancock, Rev. J. A. Weber and Rev. G. J. Finan, of Frostburg, Rev. P.J. Morohan, of Keyser, W. Va. Very Rev. J. J Brady, of Meyersdale, Rev. J. J. Brennan, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Midland, Rev. Louis C. Vaeth, of Baltimore, Rev. John Corbett, of Seat Pleasant, Md, Rev. John A. Fannnoni, of Bradshaw, Md, Rev. Stephen J. Morris, pastor of St. Jerome's Church, Baltimore, Rev. Thos. A. Rankin, of Clarendon, Va., Rev. Leonard J. Pipple, of Baltimore, a lifelong friend and classmate of Father Kenney, preached the sermon. Services at the grave were conducted by the Rev. Wm. E. McVeigh assisted by all the other clergy present who chanted the benedictus. There were about sixty cars in the procession to St Michael's cemetery where interment was made. The church was filled to capacity, many forced to remain standing. On Sunday evening a delegation 150 members of the Holy Name Society of St. Michael's Church, Frostburg, under the leadership of their spiritual director, Father Finan, went to St. Joseph's Church, Midland to pay tribute to 'he deceased. A short service service consisting of recitation of the rosary was held."
