While their mother, Mrs. Jacob Moler, of Brunswick, this valley, was at the home of her brother-in-law, Mr. Carey Moler, about noon last Sunday where the wife of the latter lay dead, a most pathetic tragedy took place in her own home, when her son Kenneth Moler, aged 11 years, was accidentally shot and killed by his older brother, Forrest Moler, aged 16.
The boys were cleaning a cat rifle preparatory to going hunting on Monday. The weapon was discharged and the bullet entered Kenneth's head just below the eye. The little fellow lingered unconscious for one hour and then passed away. His sister was in the kitchen at the time preparing dinner, but she heard no sound from the dining room where the boys were when the gun discharged. The older boy declared the gun was not loaded.
The little fellow was the son of City Councilman and Mrs. Jacob Moler, and was a bright and promising lab. In addition to his parents, three brothers and four sisters survive. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from the house, with interment at Knoxville. The funeral of Mrs. Carey Moler, the aunt of the unfortunate lab, took place Monday afternoon.
