Wallace was born July 9, 1921, in Spring Hill, KS, being the oldest son of Herman and Jesse Anna McDaniel Whitney. Wallace proudly served as a United States Navy airman in WWII, stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. He married Mary Frances Boyd in Spring Hill on March 20, 1944. To this union, three sons were born.

His favorite pastimes included traveling and being an avid supporter of the Kansas City Royals. Wallace was also blessed with a beautiful tenor voice that was greatly appreciated in many local choirs. He was a loving and giving husband and father who did many good deeds during his life. He will be greatly missed by his wife, his sons, and many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Rarick; a brother, Bill; a sister, Eloise, during infancy; and his oldest son, Wallace, Jr., on February 11, 2009.
