James J. Ward, Sr was married to Hannah Chandler. In the early 1800 he was living in Davidson Co., TN and by 1810 hewas in Hardin County, TN. In December of 1820 he migrated to the Red River county of Mexico later to become the Republic of Texas with his three sons his daughter Sarah remained in Tennessee. In 1830 he collected Indian rights for ceded lands in the 1817 Treaty. He died on his Plantation in Red River County, Republic of Texas in 1838.
