Julian Doerge Funeral services for Mr. Julian Francis Doerge, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at Kingwood Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas, with the Rev. Richard Hale officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Texas. Visitation will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 17, at the funeral home, with family hour from 6 until 8 p.m. Mr. Doerge, a native of Ged, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, in Humble, Texas. He was born May 15, 1916, to George and Jewell Doerge. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He resided in the Houston, Texas, area for the past 61 years and 41 of those years, he was a switchman with the Southern Pacific Railroad. "Pappa D" was known for his strong belief in his Lord and his love of the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but most of all, he was a man who loved his family. Everyone knew that his love of family always came first. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara. He is survived by his daughters, both of New Caney, Texas; sons, of Jackson, Tenn., and of New Caney; grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; his beloved companion, his boxer dog, Hilda; and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Donnie Brooks, Bud Roberts, Donnie Exernack, Ronnie Schkade, Troy Wootton, and Bill Brederick. Honorary pallbearers will be Otis Brashear and Gary McGrath.
