Beverly Adams Strickland, 94, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at a local nursing care facility. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Porterfield Baptist Church with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Sam Waldron will officiate. The family will meet friends Monday from 6 - 8 p.m., at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Memorial gifts may be made to Porterfield Baptist Church Bus Fund, 2910 Allen Road, Macon 31216.
Mrs. Strickland, wife of the late Pat N. Strickland, was born in Crestview, FL the daughter of the late Charles Grover Adams and Alice Grimes Adams. A graduate of Okaloosa Business School, she worked with Okaloosa County School System. She moved to Macon in 1946 and was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church where she had been a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. Mrs. Strickland taught Sunday School at Tabernacle Baptist Church in the Youth Department for thirteen years. She always told people that these years were the most productive of all her teaching years and that she loved every minute while the girls taught her more than she taught them.
