Florence E. Abel, 97, Shawnee resident since 1980, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at her home.
She was born April 3, 1916, in Wanette to James and Stella (Holmes) Skinner. On July 12, 1934, she married Verlin Abel. She was a school teacher for 35 years.
She was a member of Wallace Avenue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Ed and Carol Abel of Oklahoma City and Paul Abel of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Steve Holt of Yukon; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
