From The Geauga Republican July 24, 1907 "THOMPSON PIONEER HAS PASSED AWAY. John Proctor, one of Thompson's oldest and most highly respected residents, died Sunday forenoon, after many weeks of suffering caused by an accident which occurred while the aged man was attending to the chores. Mr. Proctor was nearly 83 years old, and was a brother of the late Dr. D. G. Proctor. The funeral was held Tuesday, July 23, at 11 a.m."
From The Geauga Leader July 31, 1907 "John Proctor, aged 83, died Sunday a week ago as a result of an injury. He was one of Thompson's oldest and most highly respected citizens"
From The Geauga Republican, July 31, 1907 "The funeral services of John Proctor, whose death occurred on Sunday, July 21, from the bursting of a blood vessel, were held at his late home on Tuesday, July 23, at 11 o'clock a.m. There was a large attendance of relatives, neighbors and old friends. The deceased was well and favorably known for miles around, having been engaged in the mercantile and gardening business for many years. If he had enemies we have never heard of them. "Uncle John" had a smile and kind word for all, and he will be missed in this community. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and two sons, and several grandchildren. A clergyman from Cleveland officiated. Internment was made at in Maple Grove Cemetery."
