FAIRMONT — Peggy Ann Shaver, 80, of Pleasant Valley, passed from this life Sunday (May 27, 2012) at The Arbors at Fairmont Nursing Facility after a long-term illness.
She was born in Fairmont on Oct. 22, 1931, a daughter of the late George Franklin and Dorothy Brown Blackwood.
A very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Peg put her family above all else. She loved to cook and host family gatherings. She kept and maintained her annual calendar of events that included everything that had anything to do with her family. She loved to crochet and make afghans, which she normally gave away. All seven of her granddaughters had at least one. She also enjoyed ceramics, which she also gave away. Bird watching was a favorite pastime as well as watching Western movies, working word puzzles and Sudoku.
She was an active member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church for many years. She was also a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. She had formerly been a factory worker at Westinghouse and a cook for the Marion County Board of Education and at Wishing Well Health Center.

Shaver; one daughter, Susan Cunningham and her fiancé Frank Reynolds of Palm City, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Vicki Shaver of Palm City, Fla., Mark and Kim Shaver of King, N.C., and Bryan and Bobbi Shaver of Owatonna, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, Josh, Rachael, Garrett, Audra, Meredith, Abigale, Zachary, Mateline, Cullen and Jackson Shaver, Ryan Lounders, Jeremy Cunningham, Kayla Heeter and her husband Chris, and Megan Cunningham; one great-grandson, Emmett Shaver; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Wycoff and husband Ralph of Fairmont; her brother-in-law, James Shaver and wife Florencia of Fairmont; her sister-in-law, Twila Shaver of Fairmont; and last but not least, her feathered buddy for the last nine years, her cockatiel, "Pretty Boy."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and her husband, Patty and James Donlin; and a brother-in-law, John Shaver.
