Thomas Clay Chavis, 36, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010 in a local hospital. He attended The Church at Grace Point where he was on the softball team. He was a supporter of Lake Forest Middle School Athletics and an avid Alabama sports fan. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School Class of 1992. He was currently co-host of "WOOP" Good Sports Radio Program and was a journalist.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Wood Chavis Bofink and grandparent, Thomas O. Wood.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Lane Chavis of Cleveland; daughter, Emma Patricia Chavis of Moncks Corner, SC; father, Chip Chavis and wife Jane Chavis of Cleveland; sister, Stephanie Bofink Shipp of San Francisco, CA; grandmother, Evelyn Wood of Cleveland; paternal grandparents, Charles and Jane Chavis of Memphis, TN.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church at Grace Point with Pastor Phil Griffin and Pastor Mickey Clark officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Brian Smith, Justin Messier, Greg Wanderman, Kevin Kerr, Kevin Placek, Jason Hildebrand and David Sheely will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
