Michael Lee Burrell, age 55 of Republic, Mo., died in St. Louis University Hospital on August 6, 2009. The cause was cardiopulmonary failure following a liver transplant. Born February 26, 1954 in Columbia, Mo., to Jerryldene and William F. Burrell, he attended Winona High School, University of Missouri-Rolla and graduated from MSU in 1977. Mike worked at St. John's Mercy Hospital as an ASCP medical technologist until 1999. On December 28, 1974, he married Linda Denise Albert of Winona, Mo. Mike played high school and college baseball and served as a board member for Republic American Legion Baseball program. He will be especially remembered for his support of youth baseball and softball league coaching. Mike enjoyed camping trips with family and friends, and the company of his favorite cats, Wilbur and Jake. Survivors include his wife, Linda Albert Burrell of Republic, Mo.; daughter, Jennifer Burrell Oxner and husband Steven Jeffrey Oxner of Springfield, Mo.; son, Seth William Burrell and wife Leslie Hamlett Burrell, and their unborn child, Micah Lee Burrell who is due to arrive on August 24, 2009; parents, William Fredrick Burrell and Jerryldene Burrell of Winona, Mo.; sister, Mary Little and her children Casey Hood of Columbia, Mo., Tara Little and Zachary Little of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, William Warren Burrell and wife Evelyn Burrell of Houston, Texas; sister, Elizabeth Lyn Combs and husband James Combs, and their daughter Rachel Combs of Springfield, Mo. Other survivors include numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred Warren Burrell and Ola Burrell of Winona, Mo.; grandparents, Rex Jeffries and Earma Lou Jeffries of Higbee, Mo. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. in the First Christian Church, 443 N. Main Ave, Republic, Mo., on Friday, August 14, 2009.
