Tilton - Edith (Brett) Fifield, 84, formerly of Tilton, died Friday at Franklin Regional Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Lynn, Mass., she lived in the Tilton-Northfield area for many years. She lived with her daughter in Franklin for the last six years. She formerly worked as a seamstress for the Tilton Dress Company of Franklin.

She attended the Tilton-Northfield United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 1698 Auxiliary, the Franklin Apollo Club and the Northfield Friendship Grange No. 110.

She was the wife of the late Elmer C. Fifield. She leaves nine daughters, Dawn Woods of Boscawen, Helen Fogg of Northwood, Melba Fogg of Franklin, Florence Bernard of Manchester, Eva Heath of Salisbury, Ruth Rouchon of Merritt Island, Fla., Lena, Marion and Rosalie; two sons, Wilber and Harry; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Rosalie Holland of Wilmington, Del., and Alice Shaw of Belmont; nieces and nephews.

Her parents: Francis Loren Brett and Maude Maxfield. Maude married 2nd, George Wellman. Maude and George had two daughters, Alice Shaw and Rosalie Holland.
