Marriage to Joyce Elizabeth Nutt on 11 Apr 1952.

A.G. Newman 93, of El Dorado passed away Saturday June 14, 2014 at Courtyard Rehabilitation Center.

A.G. was born in Vivian, Louisiana February 14, 1921 to Benton Albert "B.A." and Mary Louise Roan Newman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 27 years Elizabeth Joyce Nutt Newman, a daughter Lee Louise Newman and one brother Bobby Gene Newman.

He was a graduate of El Dorado High School and a 1949 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University. He was a veteran of World War II having served with distinction in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator gunner in a B-17. He received the Army Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross for actions at Guadalcanal and the South Pacific campaign in the Marshall and Solomon islands.

He was a long time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in El Dorado where, until his health began failing, he was active in the food pantry ministry. Until his retirement from Monsanto Chemical where he worked as a Senior Transportation Analyst he was involved in the Civitan Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed all things Wildcat and Razorback sports related.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years Jo Ann Estes Newman, a son Gil (Liz) Newman of Gainesville, Texas, a brother Donald Ray Newman of El Dorado, and three grandchildren: Lindon (Lisa) Davis of Fayetteville AR, Stefan Gregory Newman of Lewisville, Texas and Zachary Benton Newman of San Marcos, Texas.

Also surviving are two step sons, Steve (Dorothy) of Houston Texas and Barry A. Smith of St. Louis Missouri, two step grandchildren Kenneth (Maria) Smith of Leander, Texas and Jonathan (Margie) Smith of Houston, Texas , one step great grandchild, Keaton Smith, one niece and one nephew.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday June 17, 2014 at Young's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rob Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Dunn Cemetery in Hampton under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
