Carroll Reid Barnett, the son of Michael/ Micheal Barnett, Jr. and Susanna Reynolds Mothershead Barnett, was born 26th June 1832 in Montgomery County (now Bullock County), Alabama.

After the death of his parents, per the 1844 Montgomery County, Alabama Orphans Court, and while still a minor, Thomas Underwood was appointed "guardian of person and property of Carroll Reid Barnett, minor heir of Michael Barnett" [source: Guardianship documents from Oklahoma Barnett cousin dated 1844 thru 1847].

Carroll Reid Barnett resided in Macon County, Alabama with sister Susan Kezia Barnett Underwood and brother-in law Thomas Underwood and their family. His sister, Caroline Montgomery Barnett was also a minor living in the household.

By 1850 US Federal Census, Macon County, Alabama has C.R. Bennett [ transcription error: should be C.R. Barnett], age 18 student in household of Thomas Underwood age 40; Kezia Underwood, age 29 (his sister); Benjamin W. Underwood, age 15; Susan Underwood, age 10; Susan Lacke [transcription error: should be Susan Locke], age 8(his half sister); Samuel Medlock, age 20, student (brother of Keziah's sister-in-law Mary Emiline Medlock Barnett); and Caroline Barnett aka Caroline Montgomery Barnett, age 15 (his sister).

On November 7, 1850, in Montgomery County, Carroll Reid Barnett married Caroline Reynolds (aka Caroline M. Reynolds). Their marriage was performed by Robert H. Foxhall, a Montgomery County Justice of the Peace. Noteworthy is that Robert H. Foxhall is also buried at High Log Cemetery, nearby Carroll Reid Barnett's grave site. The 1860 US Federal Census in District 2, Ramah, Montgomery County AL show Carroll Reid Barnett as C.B. Barnett [transcription error] living with wife and 3 of their children:
i.female Emma Barnett age 8, [daughter b. 1852]
ii. male Marion age 2, [son b. April 11, 1858-d. February 4, 1870] and
iii. female Barnett child about age 1 [daughter Carroll Reid Barnett b. 1860-d. 1863]
There is also a 25 year old male named Abell Crow in this household listed as 'overseer'.

iv. Daughter Beulah B. Barnett b.Feb 20 1862- d. Nov. 20, 1883.. married Charles Edward Brame on January 5, 1880 in Montgomery County, Alabam.

He is buried in High Log Cemetery, by his daughter, and close to his parents and brothers F. Decalb Charles Montgomery Barnett and Andrew Lawrence Barnett and sister-in-law Mary Emiline Medlock Barnett. Another cousin is Susan Tabitha Barnett Hill, who was daughter of Michael Humphrey Barnett (1810-1890) & Tabitha Ann Dixon (1820-1898) and wife of Archibald Hill is buried in close proximity.
