MRS. WESLEY WARDELL:
The death occurred Friday, Dec. 9. of Mary Etta, wife of Wesley Wardell, of
Adelaide Township. Mrs. Wardell was in her 53rd year, and had been a resident of
Adelaide for over 30 years. She was born in Lobo Township, and was the eldest
daughter of Walter Zavitz and the late Inez Hazlett. Although she had been
failing in health for several months, death came as a shock to the family, and
there are numerous friends who will regret the passing of her who nobly played
her part as wife, mother, friend and neighbor. Surviving are her husband, six
children: Fred and Walter, of East Williams; Clifford, Borden, Inez and Ida
Belle, at home. She also leaves her father, Walter Zavitz, of Lobo; two sisters,
Mrs. Archie Crawford of Lobo and Mrs. Hugh Crawford of Senlac, Sask; and three
brothers, Fred, Earl and Owen, all of Lobo. The funeral, which was one of the
largest ever held here, took place Sunday afternoon from the family residence,
lot 24, concession 3, Adelaide, to Strathroy cemetery, the services being
conducted by the Rev. W. G. Colgrove. Six nieces of the deceased, Elsie, Grace,
Elma and Vera Wardell, Lottie Squires and Gladys McLellan acted as floral
bearers, and the neighbors, Jim Giffen, Wm. Nettleton, Jack Graham, George
Linton, Charles Oliver and Dave Giffen were the pall-bearers. During the service
George Oliver sang "Lord, I'm Coming Home."
