Jeanne Hill, age 86, of Huron, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at the Highmore Health Care Center. Her funeral service was at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 4th at Huron Christian Church with Rev. Al Wager and Terry Fraker officiating. Burial was at 2:30 PM, Thursday at the GAR Cemetery at Miller. Memorials may be directed to the home health/hospice program in your local area.

Vivian Jeanne Stingley was born at Bramhall Township, Hyde County to Elmer and Vivian (Stoner) Stingley on October 10, 1926. In 1933, the family moved to Highmore where Elmer worked for Standard Oil Company and Vivian was a homemaker raising their four children, Elizabeth, Marjorie, John and Jeanne.

Jeanne attended Highmore High School graduating in 1945. She was involved in many activities including being President of her senior class. In the summer of 1945, Jeanne attended Huron College. She taught school at CovenantTownship south of Highmore for one year.

Jeanne was introduced to Everett Hill by his brother, Orville at a dance in Miller in 1945, while Everett was home on leave from the United States Navy.

On December 5, 1946, Jeanne married Everett Hill at Highmore while he was on home on leave from the service. They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where Everett was stationed at the time. Jeanne worked as a Control Operator for the local radio station. They returned to Highmore in 1947. They then lived briefly in Tracy, Minnesota. In 1955, they moved to Pierre where Everett worked as a carpet and tile installer and Jeanne babysat. Jeanne was very active with the VFW Auxiliary at Pierre. She was also an Avon representative for over 18 years.

On Father's Day June 1978, Jeanne and Everett were baptized into the Lord Jesus Christ and enjoyed fellowship with their Saviour.

Everett and Jeanne moved to Huron in 2002. After Everett died, she moved to Brandon for three years, returning to Huron January 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett; one son, Terry; one brother, John Stingley; and two sisters, Elizabeth Welch and Marjorie Schuette.

Grateful for having shared her life are her one son, Harvey Hill of Pierre; two daughters, Georgia (Terry) Fraker of Brandon and Barbara (Steve) Woockman of Huron; one daughter-in-law, Delia Hill of Glendale, Arizona; six grandchildren, Creighton Fraker, Eric Fraker, Adam (Jennifer) Woockman, Keith (Jennifer) Woockman, Emily (James) Farrell and Jessica Hill; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marion Hill of Geneva, Nebraska and Abbie Hill of Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
