1931 - 2013 ADAMS Laurel Joyce (Smith) Daigneault, 81, of 8 Cross St., died Thursday afternoon, March 28, 2013, at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown.

She was born in Adams on Dec. 25, 1931, a daughter of Adelbert and Mabel (Payette) Smith. She attended Adams schools, and graduated from the former Adams High School with the Class of 1950. She also attended the former Bliss Business College in North Adams.

Mrs. Daigneault last worked as a secretary at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for several years. Earlier, she had worked briefly at the former Dewey & Almy Chemical Co.

She was an active communicant of the Parish of Blessed John Paul. She was also an active volunteer for United Cerebral Palsy for many years.

She enjoyed reading, music and the theater.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Norman J. Daigneault, whom she married on April 28, 1956; four daughters, Mary Martin, and her husband, Timothy, of Peru, Jean Burzimati, and her husband, Lorenzo, of Pownal, Vt., Ann Prudhomme, and her husband, Thomas, of Adams, and Joyce Daigneault and her companion, Eric Boucher, of Union, Conn.; one son, Mark Daigneault, of Adams; two brothers, Carlyle Smith of Adams, and Vernon Smith of Longwood, Fla.; one sister, Avis Perrea of Pittsfield; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Royal Smith.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 2, at 9 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in the Church of Blessed John Paul, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery
