Funeral services for William C. "Bill" Bowling, 85, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, with interment in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bowling passed away Friday, April 5, at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab. He was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Cullman to William Louis and Doris Bottcher Bowling. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army, as well as the Alabama State Legislature. He was a longtime educator, teaching at Cullman High School and Wallace State in Hanceville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Bowling.

Survivors include his wife, Marie McClendon Bowling; a son, Chuck Bowling; two daughters, Becky (Ed) Asher and Dianne Holcomb; seven grandchildren, Noah and Nick Bowling, Heather Brand, Cory (Shannon) Holcomb, Anthony, Riley and Eddie Asher; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Brand; and two sisters, Dorothy Boerner and Nelle Koons.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
