David Edward Conley was born January 30, 1947, in Bakersfield, California, to Samual Edwin and Juanita (Sanford) Conley. He went to be with our Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2013, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, at the age of 66 years, 2 months, and 7 days.

Dave lived most of his life in the Bakersfield, California area. He attended Standard Elementary and Greeley Junior High School, finally graduating Bakersfield High School in 1964. Dave served his country in the United States Army then furthered his education by obtaining his A. A. degree in the field of Fire Science at Bakersfield College. On December 7, 1967, in Las Vegas, Nevada, David Edward Conley and Deborah Sue Pearson were united in marriage. The couple had been married for over 45 years.

Dave was a firefighter for over 31 years, retiring as a Captain for the Kern County, California Fire Department. Captain Dave served his community well by being involved with the Christmas For All program that assisted, at times, up to 5,000 underprivileged children. He also was a part of Burn Survivor Campouts, a member of the Welfare and Benefit Association, and a member of Local 1301 Firefighters Union. He was proud to be a firefighter and enjoyed every day of work. He was honored to have worked with many outstanding people.

Dave retired and moved to Locust Grove, Oklahoma, 4 years ago. He became a member of the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove and was able to spend time enjoying fishing. He had a passion for his show car and airplanes. Dave was a caring person that would do anything to help others and he always loved a good joke. He was always a hard worker and dear friend to all. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family that loved him so much.

Dave is survived by: his best friend and loving wife: Debbie "Puppy Sue" Conley, of the home; 1 son: David Edward Conley II of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 1 brother: Stephen Edwin Conley of Pryor, Oklahoma; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Juanita Conley.

The family ask that memorial donations be made to Mayes County Hospice by calling (918) 824-7744.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Pastor Mark Hester and Reverend Rick Harms will officiate. Graveside honors will be conducted by the Tulsa Fire Department Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
