Mr. and Mrs. Funkhouser have reason to be proud of their sons, for both volunteered soon after the outbreak of war and both have been commissioned lieutenants. Paul was admitted to the first officer training camp and commissioned second lieutenant, United States Regular Army. He arrived in France in April and engaged in the recent great battle near Chateau-Thierry. He has served on several courts martial. Both brothers had university and legal education. He attended Evansville High School, Northwestern University, Law Department Indiana University. He was a member of, Phi Delta Theta, Indiana Alpha Chapter, Bayard Park M. E. Church, President Pan Hellenic Club, Indiana University. Selected by Col. Atkinson to undergo special thirty day course of training in musketry. Selected member of Special Court Martial. Moved his Division to Camp Greene, Charlotte, N. C. By Special Order he was selected by Major-General Dickman as member of the General Court Martial of the Third Division. By special order, selected Judge Advocate for the Battalion Special Court Martial. Brother of, Albert Funkhouser , Alta Funkhouser and Ruth Funkhouser. Army, Company B, 7th Machine Gun Battalion, 3rd Division.
