Dorothy M. Picklesimer, 74, of Milford Center, Ohio died Monday, December 2, 2002, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and after a lengthy illness with cancer.
She had a very strong Christian faith that was evident in everything she did. She was an avid seamstress, did countless repairs and projects for others and hung wallpaper for many people. She loved to play Rook, other card games and games of all kinds and enjoyed working puzzles and camping. She spent many hours watching the Cincinnati Reds baseball team and celebrated her 53rd wedding anniversary at a Reds game.
Over the years she was involved in many community activities and donated much of her time to the Fairbanks Band Boosters, Fairbanks Summer Ball Association and numerous church functions. She was a member of Mount Carmel Friends Church near Cable, was involved in missions work and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was one of the most generous and giving people who ever lived and truly never met a stranger. She was a dedicated wife and mother who loved her children and grandchildren dearly and she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
She was born January 3, 1928, in Clark County to the late C. Franklin and Alta M. Yoder Cushman.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell whom she married September 11, 1949, in Beloit: children, David M (Kathy) Picklesimer of Milford Center, Mary L. (Steven) Strausbaugh of Irwin and Susie M. (John) Gamble and John L., "JP" (Jennifer) Picklesimer of Marysville; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary J. Headlee of West Liberty; and two brothers, James F. Cushman of Cable and Earl D. (Martha) Cushman of West Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Mount Carmel Friends Church. The Revs. Tom Showalter and Fred Clogg will officiate and the burial will be at the Milford Center Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Ingram Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be the deceased's seven grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice or the church in care of the funeral home.
